Friday’s Loveliness – Our First Song.

Apologies – I’ve been ill as a dog the last 2 weeks and been struggling to pass off as a human let alone be able to write.

Today I’ve wanted to write something a little more sentimental and mushy. Me and The Boy have gone through alot of change in first nine months of our marriage – new jobs, new house, a few health scares and living together as man and wife. Not that it feels any different, it feels exactly like how it should do. We know that whatever life throws at us, as long as we’re together it will all work out fine.

So today I wanted to share our first dance song. As soon as we heard this we knew it was         The One.

It’s by The Lumineers and it’s untitled but I think it’s called “Falling.” We heard it at Glastonbury and when this started, the crowds went silent. It was a beautiful moment. I just turned to Will and he knew exactly what I was going to say.

I love the lyrics – they’re just us. And when Neyla sings – goosebumps. Every time I hear this song it holds nothing but amazing memories for us.

Heart full of love.

Friday’s Lovelieness – Let’s run away and get married….

Elopeverb. to run away secretly with a lover in order to marry.

Are you in the midst of planning your wedding right now? Pulling your hair out over guestlists, flowers, table arrangements, sore fingers form cutting out 100 of tissue paper pom poms? Have you secretly thought about saying “Fuck this, lets run away and get married now”?

Yep well I did. Halfway through  planning our beautiful wedding, there was a point where costs were spiralling, guestlists were shaky and accommodation was non existent that I voiced out to the Boy and said “screw it, let’s jump on a plane and get married right now.”

We seriously contemplated it for like 30 seconds and then thought that the wrath of the mother in law, plus the missed opportunity to party it up with loved ones was worth sleepless nights and continual budget checking. And our day was perfect, in every single way. Wouldn’t change it for the world.

However it did get me thinking about Elopements and how perfect they can be for those couples brave enough to take that step. I’m seeing more and more intimate weddings, where guests are limited to 10 people and those weddings are beautiful.  We had 39 guests at our wedding and it was, for us, spectacular. We were able to speak to everyone – actually hold conversations with them and thank them personally for coming. We got a picture of us with every single guest. We were able to have a little boogie with them all on the dancefloor and even do shots with them at the bar. We were able to say goodbye to everyone and thank them again and when everyone circled us and danced around us at the end to our final song it was magical. We struggled to speak to everyone at our Brighton reception the following week and that made me pretty sad.

So are you thinking of Eloping? If you are then check out these stunning shots of the Bride and Groom for some inspiration.

Can you believe it – the Bride hiked up the mountain for an hour whilst holding her dress. Legend. I absolutely love this shot below – j’adore. Yes I know it’s a shoot, but click on the link and it has some great tips on eloping to Paris. Tres Bien!

And this might be my favourite elopment of the day. The dress is stunning, the back drop is breath taking and you can FEEL the love radiating from the pictures.  What?! There’s a video?! Yes – stop what you’re doing and watch this now. It is truly wonderful. Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean you can’t have that first look, the excitement of getting ready, the nerves of saying your vows. It will still be as just emotional in front of just your officiant as it would be in front of 100 people. Even more so I think as you are both really focussed on each other and what this means to you right now, in that moment. Eeek – I’m gushing. Just watch the video. And make sure you have some tissues.

Gorgeous riiggghhhttt?

Anywho, must dash and wipe those tears away. I’ve still got some more thank you cards I need to write. The fun never ends. xxxx

My Favourites…

Oh yes. All of our wedding photos are now in my grubby little hands!

And I love every single one of them.

I’m sure I’m like most Brides and I’ve flicked through them over and over again. To the point where I’m starting to get Repetitive Strain Injury in my wrist.

But I can’t help it. To work on something for 18 months and see all your hard work pay off and all your crazy ideas come together, and see the raw emotion on your husband’s face when you speak your vows, and the tears and laughs on your friends and family’s faces are something that will be etched in my heart forever but will always be so beautiful to see them again and again.

I’ve got so much I want to write about so I will be breaking it all down for you but for the moment, here are my just a few of my favourites. I hope you like them as much as I love them.

Boudoir Photography – to do or not to do?

Why hello there.

I’ve got a bit of a saucy one for you today. Yep, let’s talk about getting your kit off. In front of a camera. And posing in a somewhat seductive manner. Without feeling and looking like an absolute idiot.

I’m not too sure if you know what I’m talking about but Boudoir Photography has somewhat become very popular in the last couple of years and I’ve seen plenty o’ pins on good old Pinterest.  Some not all good though I must hasten to add. Essentially, Boudoir shots involve taking your clothes off, looking hot whilst having your photo taken. Why put yourself through that I hear you ask?  Well sometimes you might feel like giving yourself some self-love, or perhaps you’ve worked hard to get your body into an incredible shape and would like to document it or perhaps it makes a good wedding present for the other half.

I went for the latter.

The Boy loves confident women and I’d say I’m not shy in front of the camera (thanks to my younger years as a amateur model and Beauty pageant contestant. Yes I know. The SHAME of it!). I had shifted some pounds and was probably physically fitter than ever and was really struggling what to get the Boy as his wedding present. I wanted something special. Something that he / we could look back in 40 years and for him to remember the woman he married. Also I have a fantastic friend Manon – check her out her website here   (FYI – Manon took our incred Engagement photos here) who wanted to add to her portfolio. Bonus!

So we put our heads together in secret squirrel meetings, pinned like crazy and set a date. I was adamant that I did not want any cheesy, over the top, trying too hard sexy shots. I just wanted to look like me but hotter. Luckily Manon’s bedroom had incredible light. Double bonus.

Here are a few shots that we sort of used as inspiration:

Pretty hot right? Without being too overtly sexy we thought. So that’s what we tried to envisage. So armed with some pretty pants and make up, I gave it my best shot. I thought about getting pretty drunk beforehand but I tend to get a bit blotchy so that was a no-no. However, as Manon is close friend, getting my kit off and posing wasn’t as scary as first thought. She was amazing and put me right as ease, getting the right poses for me and the best light.

*Deep breath* So here are a few of the photos that’m happy to share.  The “Hot Hot” ones are for The Boy’s eyes only mind.

I was and am  really pleased with the final pictures. And once I had made a little black book for the Hubby to be with the chosen photos to open on the morning of the wedding, I think he was pretty pleased with his present too.

So, thoughts on Boudoir pics for you or your other half? Is it a hell yeah? Or a hmmmm not too sure?  Well this little article here from Theknot.com might answer questions. Or feel free to drop me a line!

Until next time lovelies!

PS. I asked Manon to Photoshop on a 6-pac. She said no.

Beautiful Boho dresses (I Do Love Buzzfeed!)

Hola beautiful Brides to be!

So sorry for the lack of posts – it’s been so mad the last month in the lead up to the Big Day.

CANNOT BELIEVE IT’S A MONTH UNTIL WE SAY I DO!!!! Yes this needed to be shouted.

Where has the time gone? I’ve still got so many things to tick off the to do list so if I’m a bit sporadic in communication I apologise. There’s so many things I want to post about but:

A. Can’t find the time to do so and

B. I can’t as there are things I want to keep a secret from The Boy, my bridesmaids and my guests. So it’s all hush hush at the mo.

But have no fear because I plan to bare all once that ring is on my finger! I’ll be giving you the breakdown on my planning tools, all the DIY bits we’ve been doing and there will be lots of photos coming your way.

However in the meantime, I recently saw this post on Buzzfeed which I just had to share.

36 of the Most Effortlessly Beautiful Boho Wedding Dresses Ever.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Here are just a few of my faves:

Beauts aren’t they!

I’ve got another wedding dress fitting tomorrow so will let you all know how it’s all going. Veil is done and apparently looks lovely. I keep telling the Boy that I’m not having a dress.  Just a veil and an white mankini.

Instagram Inspiration

Now I love me a bit of Social Media. Not only because that’s what do for my job and not only because I’m a self confessed geek but because beautiful things that I would have never would have found are delivered into my grubby little paws through the wonder that is Instagram.

If you’re not on it – get on it!  Why? Because:

  • It turns your pretty pictures into goooorrrgggeeooouuusss photos (erases blemishes – the Sierra and Walden filters are my favs for this!)
  • You can tap into other people’s lives and have a little bit of a nosey around at what they’re wearing. Check out Negin Mirsalehi and Chiara Ferragni – serious wardrobe envy.
  • Source lots of weddingy goodness.  There’s lots of businesses on there and I love following those that are most relevant to me like Lihi Hod, Stone Fox Bride, Grace Loves Lace and Vera Wang etc.

But then there are these fab businesses that I’ve never heard of and absolutely love – here’s just a few of the pick of the bunch:

Serious Boho Bride inspiration right? And it’s so easy to check in, have a look what’s going on, fill your boots and then duck back out again. Love it!

Beware! It can get a bit addictive but should you chose / chosen to take the plunge then be sure to follow me – just search for bridebythebeach.

Right I’m off to finish my spreadsheet of wedding stationary that my Maid of Honour needs doing.  It’s currently at 18 different bits – not too sure she knows exactly what she signed up for here.
