Bride By The Beach - My Wedding

My Handmade Headpieces

Hola ladies!

How’s your weekend been – busy wedding planning? I had a fab time with my beautiful niece and nephew taking them to a farm, lovely dinner with The Boy and long walks with my In-laws dog followed by a roast and salted caramel pudding – lush. (Summer diet starts tomorrow.)

Well today I’m talking about headpieces. I knew as soon as we decided on a boho wedding on the beach I wanted a glamourous headpiece to set off my veil. So I had a little look around, found some unbelievable pieces but also  saw that there were some pretty hefty price tags attached and thought to myself could I make this myself? And then it so happened that this train of thought co-incided with a hen party I went on that involved a jewellery making session. So I thought I’d give it a go!

My brother and sister in law bought me a stunning necklace for my graduation present and it was the perfect jewelled piece to turn into a headpiece. It was pretty simple, I bought a basic jewellery toolkit and some silver chain and links from ebay and just extended the chain to fit my head. Easy. Here’s a couple of pics from my wedding to show you:

The headpiece allowed me to tuck my curled hair into it to keep it off my neck during the ceremony. Just what I wanted in the Ibiza sun.

I also wanted my gorgeous bridemaids to have something similar so I spotted some pretty earrings, removed the hooks and attached the chains. I loved them and think that they went so well with their pretty dresses –

I absolutely loved making them – yes they took a little time but it was quite relaxing to get creative in the run up to the wedding. And I loved the fact that no one else in the world would be wearing anything similar.

In fact it’s giving me the bug to make more when I’ve got a little more spare time and I came across this incredible brand LITTER who makes one off headpieces, body jewellery and shoe accessories. LOVE.

Again I’m totally digging that these pieces are unique and standout – perfect accessory for the big day. Anyone else thinking of headpieces for the day?

Another sneak peek….

Greetings gorgeous girls!

Well I think we are getting there with all our wedding snaps! Oh what a chore it is – having to relive these beautiful moments over and over again.

We were extremely lucky to have three fantastic photographer documenting our day: our friend Anthony of AJG PhotographyManon who took our Engagement pics and my secret Boudoir shots and then last not least our professional photographer Gabriel who’s based in Ibiza –  you can find more of his work here – www.gabivazquez.com

I PROMISE I’ll be uploading some pictures soon, I’m just in the process of sorting out our Thank you cards which is taking priority at the moment as there were so many people that our day epic.

However, here’s another of one of my favourite shots of the day, taken by the very awesome Anthony (he is very good he is).

Boudoir Photography – to do or not to do?

Why hello there.

I’ve got a bit of a saucy one for you today. Yep, let’s talk about getting your kit off. In front of a camera. And posing in a somewhat seductive manner. Without feeling and looking like an absolute idiot.

I’m not too sure if you know what I’m talking about but Boudoir Photography has somewhat become very popular in the last couple of years and I’ve seen plenty o’ pins on good old Pinterest.  Some not all good though I must hasten to add. Essentially, Boudoir shots involve taking your clothes off, looking hot whilst having your photo taken. Why put yourself through that I hear you ask?  Well sometimes you might feel like giving yourself some self-love, or perhaps you’ve worked hard to get your body into an incredible shape and would like to document it or perhaps it makes a good wedding present for the other half.

I went for the latter.

The Boy loves confident women and I’d say I’m not shy in front of the camera (thanks to my younger years as a amateur model and Beauty pageant contestant. Yes I know. The SHAME of it!). I had shifted some pounds and was probably physically fitter than ever and was really struggling what to get the Boy as his wedding present. I wanted something special. Something that he / we could look back in 40 years and for him to remember the woman he married. Also I have a fantastic friend Manon – check her out her website here   (FYI – Manon took our incred Engagement photos here) who wanted to add to her portfolio. Bonus!

So we put our heads together in secret squirrel meetings, pinned like crazy and set a date. I was adamant that I did not want any cheesy, over the top, trying too hard sexy shots. I just wanted to look like me but hotter. Luckily Manon’s bedroom had incredible light. Double bonus.

Here are a few shots that we sort of used as inspiration:

Pretty hot right? Without being too overtly sexy we thought. So that’s what we tried to envisage. So armed with some pretty pants and make up, I gave it my best shot. I thought about getting pretty drunk beforehand but I tend to get a bit blotchy so that was a no-no. However, as Manon is close friend, getting my kit off and posing wasn’t as scary as first thought. She was amazing and put me right as ease, getting the right poses for me and the best light.

*Deep breath* So here are a few of the photos that’m happy to share.  The “Hot Hot” ones are for The Boy’s eyes only mind.

I was and am  really pleased with the final pictures. And once I had made a little black book for the Hubby to be with the chosen photos to open on the morning of the wedding, I think he was pretty pleased with his present too.

So, thoughts on Boudoir pics for you or your other half? Is it a hell yeah? Or a hmmmm not too sure?  Well this little article here from Theknot.com might answer questions. Or feel free to drop me a line!

Until next time lovelies!

PS. I asked Manon to Photoshop on a 6-pac. She said no.

“I’m so Married”

Teaser Boho Beach Wedding Pic

What up you beautiful lot!

Yup yup the title and sneak peek picture is true – I’m so married now!

It’s taken me a week to come down from the high that was our perfect Ibiza wedding and the week leading up to it. I’ll be back writing up how it went, the work leading up to the civil ceremony, Ibiza wedding and the Brighton Reception and  sharing all the details that I wasn’t able to for fear of ruining some surprises! And don’t worry, even after I’ve blogged every single detail about my wedding, I’ll still be here to cover all the beautiful boho wedding loveliness because I absolutely bloody love all things weddings!

But in the mean time, here’s a funny parody of Iggy Azelea’s “I’m so Fancy” that I saw last week that cracked me up.

Will be back soon!

Beautiful Boho dresses (I Do Love Buzzfeed!)

Hola beautiful Brides to be!

So sorry for the lack of posts – it’s been so mad the last month in the lead up to the Big Day.

CANNOT BELIEVE IT’S A MONTH UNTIL WE SAY I DO!!!! Yes this needed to be shouted.

Where has the time gone? I’ve still got so many things to tick off the to do list so if I’m a bit sporadic in communication I apologise. There’s so many things I want to post about but:

A. Can’t find the time to do so and

B. I can’t as there are things I want to keep a secret from The Boy, my bridesmaids and my guests. So it’s all hush hush at the mo.

But have no fear because I plan to bare all once that ring is on my finger! I’ll be giving you the breakdown on my planning tools, all the DIY bits we’ve been doing and there will be lots of photos coming your way.

However in the meantime, I recently saw this post on Buzzfeed which I just had to share.

36 of the Most Effortlessly Beautiful Boho Wedding Dresses Ever.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Here are just a few of my faves:

Beauts aren’t they!

I’ve got another wedding dress fitting tomorrow so will let you all know how it’s all going. Veil is done and apparently looks lovely. I keep telling the Boy that I’m not having a dress.  Just a veil and an white mankini.

Holy Moly – Life is BUSY!

Well it looks like life has seriously kicked up a notch hasn’t it!

Not only am I into the last 2 and a half months of W. Day planning but as mentioned before, we seem to have thought it would be a good idea to put our lovely home on the market. Hence the disappearing act – we’ve been drowning in Estate Agent’s paperwork.

Anywho, wedding dress journey is going well. Had a fitting of the top half of the dress yesterday and a few adjustments needed to be made but it’s slowly getting there.  The Mother in Law to be told me very sternly that I’m not to lose any more weight. Which is the reason I’ve demolished a whole Easter Egg today. Ooops.

But generally fitness is going well. I’m in session 5 of my Bikini Bootcamp now and in the last session my instructor commented that he can see some definition in my thighs which is Excellent. Also just started a 6 week course of Pole Fitness. Why do you ask?  Have you not seen how strong those girls are? They hold their WHOLE weight with their arms. Incred. My arms are still hurting from my introductory class 3 days ago. Biceps here we come.

I’ve also been shopping for my summer wardrobe and currently coveting these:

The Boy is still struggling with trying to find his shoes. He bought a pair he thought he liked, tried it on with his suit trousers and realised they didn’t go so back they went. He’s just ordered another pair so fingers crossed they look the part.

We’re also in the process of thinking of our vows. We’re going to putting our spin on the traditional vows which is harder than you think. Help please!

Also picked this little beauty of a belt yesterday – perfect with a pair of shorts and white shirt for the beach.  Found it in a charity shop for £3! Bargain.

Ok must dash, off to finish my next blog piece for Festival Brides. The fun never stops!

Eeeek! I’m a guest blogger on Festival Brides!

So last month I got an email from the very lovely ladies of Festival Brides who had found me via my Instagram page and asked me to be a guest blogger. Clearly I said yes straight away – have you seen the blog?! It’s gorgeous! Lots of fantastic inspiration, festival weddings  and great advice on planning a not so traditional wedding. You can read my blog post here.

Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere! I’ll still be here writing nonsensical things as always but just spreading the love.

So a little update from me – I’ve got one more invitation to send out and then I can reveal our wedding invites.  Have been dying to write about them for ages but thought I’d wait until everyone had received them – we absolutely love them. A huge thanks goes to my beautiful Maid of Honour who put my crazy scribblings together and made them look lovely as. She even printed the back of the invitation and had it framed for me for my birthday present. LOVE HER!

Operation “Get Buff for ‘Beffa” has also started.  My legs are killing me from Boxercise classes and I’m currently eating my Chicken Miso Soup as I write this (recipe is here – make it NOW – it’s delicious and oh so healthy.) Oh and I’ve stupidly signed up for another Triathalon which takes place in June so will be keeping you updated with training and nutrition plans.

I’ve definitely got my wedding planning and writing head on now so make sure you come back more for more updates – I can’t believe it’s less than 6 months before the big day. Where the frick has the time gone?!

Lots of Love and Miso Soup xxxx
